Our Curriculum Design
At Harnham Infant School the curriculum is designed around our belief that each child is unique and should be empowered to be a confident, resilient, kind, independent, creative, self-motivated, active, life-long learner. It has been created with a deep understanding of child development research so that it best meets the needs and learning styles of all the children at our school. The curriculum has been designed around a core set of progressive knowledge and skills, but the context in which these are delivered is tailored to each cohort of children dependent on their needs and interests. The knowledge and skills are planned intelligently so that the sequence enables children to enjoy, explore, learn and then develop expertise.

Our Curriculum Delivery
We offer a broad, varied curriculum that aligns with National Curriculum standards. It is meticulously planned to ensure a clear progression of knowledge and skills, and regularly reviewed for improvement. The curriculum is taught by highly trained and dedicated staff who embody the school's values and set high expectations.
Harnham Infant School is committed to ongoing professional development for all staff, with subject leaders receiving and delivering specialist training. These leaders are passionate about their subjects and actively share this enthusiasm with both staff and children.
We collaborate with other schools, local networks, to enhance curriculum development and learning opportunities.
Pupil progress is closely monitored to address any gaps in learning. There is a focus on supporting vulnerable learners through a dedicated pupil premium champion and SENDCO, ensuring all students can thrive.
The school offers a wide range of extracurricular activities, including after-school enrichment clubs, cultural trips, and Forest School, to enhance children's learning experience.
Excellent pastoral care is provided through ELSA and Thrive programs, prioritising the safety, well-being, and personal development of children. This includes education on self-care, healthy living, and online safety.
Harnham Infant School actively celebrates achievements to foster a sense of value and motivation, encouraging children to continue striving for excellence.
Overall, we aim to create an environment where children are well-supported both academically and personally, preparing them for success in Key Stage 2 and beyond.
